Corrosion Laboratory
The Corrosion Laboratory belongs to the IMEM - BRT research group. Its activity is developed with private companies and public organizations for maintenance studies, prevention and evaluation of corrosion in equipment and industrial facilities made with metals and metal alloys.
It also has an evaluation line for organic coatings (paints or thermoplastic coatings) applied to metal structures for barrier protection against corrosion in various industrial facilities and for the protection of equipment.
With access to the infrastructures of the Multiscale Science and Engineering Research Center of Barcelona (BRCMSE) of the UPC as an affiliated group.

Equipment
- Potentiostats – Galvanostats by electrochemical measurements (destructive and non-destructive).
- Automated robot for cyclic accelerated corrosion tests in any electrolytic medium (IMEM Patent)
- Salt spray equipment for accelerated corrosion tests (1000 L capacity for hanging large and small pieces).
- Paint manufacturing and grinding equipment for metal protective coatings (Dispermat TU, 250 mL), paint characterization and adherence equipment, and small paint quality control equipment.
